Text description provided by the architects. The bus station built in Vilkavi?kis – a small town in the Lithuanian province with a population of around 11.000 inhabitants – not only performs the function of the transport infrastructure, but also solves an explicit social mission.

由于小鎮(zhèn)上社會(huì)福利和服務(wù)行業(yè)多樣性的缺乏，越來(lái)越多的人從小鎮(zhèn)搬走，去往更大的城市或是國(guó)外生活。從功能上考慮，建筑的策略在于集中服務(wù)、小型商業(yè)和交易活動(dòng)，幫助市政當(dāng)局將重心放置于商業(yè)上，為地區(qū)創(chuàng)造新的工作機(jī)會(huì)。車(chē)站被綠化和環(huán)境友好的標(biāo)志圍繞，建筑的設(shè)計(jì)哲學(xué)類(lèi)似于休閑娛樂(lè)建筑。這個(gè)項(xiàng)目為服務(wù)于交通基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施的建筑設(shè)計(jì)設(shè)定了新方向。

Due to insufficient supply of social welfare and diversity of services in small towns in Lithuania, more and more people are moving from small towns to live in bigger cities or abroad. The exceptional architectural solution of the building, which functionally aims to concentrate services, small business and trade activities, helped the municipality to concentrate business and create new jobs in the region. Surrounded by greenery and signifying environmental friendliness, with its design philosophy resembling recreational buildings, the project of the bus station sets a completely new direction for the design of buildings for transport infrastructure.

復(fù)雜的城市布局和地塊內(nèi)生長(zhǎng)的樹(shù)木為建筑和環(huán)境創(chuàng)造了功能場(chǎng)景，在這個(gè)場(chǎng)景里，樹(shù)木成為建筑空間不可分割的一部分。建筑面積約4,000 m2，建筑和環(huán)境的關(guān)系不僅非常親密，而且很特殊。功能性流通概念的植入，令建筑區(qū)位的短板搖身一變，成為項(xiàng)目的與眾不同之處，三角地塊“吸收”了與周邊自然相融的建筑，借機(jī)在建筑內(nèi)部打造了一座公園和公共空間。

The complex urban setting and the trees growing on the plot led to the creation of a functional scenario for the building and the environment, in which the trees would become an integral part of the building space. The building has a building area of almost 4.000 m2 and the relationship with the environment is very close, even intimate, and the relationship with nature is exceptional. The conceived and implemented functional idea of the passable building turned the shortcomings of the situation into uniqueness of the project: the area of the triangular plot ‘a(chǎn)bsorbed’ the building intuitively merging with the surrounding nature thus creating a park and public space inside the building.

據(jù)建筑師所說(shuō)，這座單層建筑內(nèi)生長(zhǎng)著的樹(shù)木作為建筑結(jié)構(gòu)的一部分，在屋頂下為城鎮(zhèn)居民創(chuàng)造了獨(dú)特的公共空間。這樣的設(shè)計(jì)不僅消除了建筑室內(nèi)外的界限，而且各項(xiàng)建筑功能也完全開(kāi)放給公眾。例如可以開(kāi)放公共空間用作音樂(lè)會(huì)和表演、品嘗當(dāng)?shù)剞r(nóng)民生產(chǎn)的產(chǎn)品、戶(hù)外咖啡館和其他公共活動(dòng)。

The one-story building of exceptional architecture, in which, according to the architect, the old trees growing on the plot are integrated into the structure of the building, created for the town an exclusive public space under the roof. Such design not only removes the boundary between the interior of the building and its exterior, but also makes this place functionally accessible and open – the building space is open for concerts and performances, tastings of products produced by local farmers, outdoor cafes and other public activities.

白色賦予建筑一種輕盈的感覺(jué)：光影的微妙作用在建筑中起著特殊作用，并創(chuàng)造了典型的公園建筑形象。即使呆在車(chē)站樓內(nèi)，人們也能感受到與大自然的密切聯(lián)系，大面積的窗戶(hù)消融了內(nèi)部和外部的隔離。多虧這些建筑策略，一座相當(dāng)大的建筑完美地融入了一個(gè)相當(dāng)有限的地塊，確保了地塊的新的城市和建筑質(zhì)量。精心挑選的簡(jiǎn)單而持久的自然建筑材料，如混凝土、玻璃、覆鋁，強(qiáng)調(diào)了建筑理念和建筑手法。

The white color gives the building a feeling of lightness; the subtle play of light and shadow plays a special role in the architecture of the building and create the image of a building typical of parks. Even when staying inside the building, one can feel a very close connection with nature – large-volume windows dissolve the actual separation of the interior and exterior. Thanks to these architectural decisions, a considerably large building flawlessly fits into a rather restricted plot, ensuring a new urban and architectural quality of the place. The functional idea and architectural solution of the building are accentuated by the selected simple but long-lasting and natural building and finishing materials, such as concrete, glass, painted aluminum.
